Chapter 5 – Troubleshooting
Alarms are divided into two categories based on the severity of
the alarm and the need for restarting the procedure:
• Non-Recoverable Alarms
• Recoverable Alarms
Non-Recoverable Alarms
Non-recoverable alarms are generated when a situation occurs
that results in the need to immediately terminate the procedure.
In general, there are two types of non-recoverable alarms:
• Alarms that require the instrument to be turned OFF, then
ON again (power cycling).
• Alarms that require the procedure to be ended, the kit
removed, and a new procedure started without having to turn
the instrument OFF in between procedures.
When a non-recoverable alarm occurs, the instrument:
• Automatically implements a safe-state mode in which the
donor is isolated and separation is stopped.
• Displays a continuous red signal light at the top of the
instrument.
• Sounds an audible signal.
• Displays an alarm overlay on the touch screen.
Whenever any non-recoverable alarm persists, contact the
Hotline.
Note: The Hotline is used only in the U.S. All other regions
should contact a qualified service representative or Fenwal if
instructed to call the Hotline.
Note: When non-recoverable alarms occur, they should be
documented per applicable standard operating procedures.
