ROCEDURE
When the kit checks are complete, the touch screen will display
the break cannulae prompt and the Kit Timer flashing 60:00
(minutes and seconds).

Note: The operator has the option to delay starting Prime.
Refer to Chapter 3, Automatic Cassette Refresh and Kit Timer
for more information.
4.
Break the available cannulae on all solution containers
(saline, red cell preservation solution, and anticoagulant – in
any order). The cannulae are located at the inlet of each
solution container. To completely break a cannula, grasp it
in both hands, snap it at a 90-degree angle in one direction,
and then bend it in the opposite direction. To ensure proper
fluid flow, the cannula should be snapped as close to the
middle of the breakaway portion as possible.
CAUTION: Ensure solution breakaway cannulae are
completely broken. Failure to completely break the cannulae may
result in restricted fluid flow.
