Rattle or chattering
Loose pump pulley.

Check the fluid level.
If low, fill the reservoir to the
proper level. and check for leaks.
Tighten or replace as necessary.
Check fo r a crushed inlet hose or
a loose hose clamp allowing air
into the suction side of the sys-
tem . Check the reservoir for
cracks. Tighten or replace as nec-
essary.
Check the drive shaft oil seal.
If pump noise is abnormally loud.
remove and inspect the pump for
wear and damage (see pa ge 17-
25),
Tighten or replace the belt.
Tig hten or repla ce the pulley.
If sha ft i s lo ose, repl ace the
pump,
