Check Countershaft Speed Sen-
sor for a Short Circuit:
1. Di sconnect the 0 (16P) con -
nector from the PCM.
2.
Check for continuity between
body ground and the 010 ter-
minal and 016 terminal indi-
vidually.
Is there co nt inu ity?
NO
Measure Counters haft Speed
Sensor Circuit for an Open:
1. Con ne ct the counters hatt
speed sensor con nect or.
2. Measure th e resi sta nce
between the 010 and 016 ter-
minals.
Is the resistance 400 - 600
m
YES
Check for loose terminal fit in the
PCM connectors. If necessary,
substitute a known-good PCM
and recheck .

Repair short in the wires between
the 010 and 016 terminals and
the countershaft
speed
sensor.
Repair loose terminal or open in
the wires between the 010 and
