2.10 Steering Control

2.10.1 General

The BELARUS-921.6 tractor is equipped with the hydrostatic power steering (HPS),
which is intended for the guiding wheels turning control and to decrease force required at
the steering wheel, when the feed pump operates. If the engine is stopped, the HPS feed-
ing pump (driven by the engine crankshaft) will not feed the HPS system, which will auto-
matically switch into the manual mode, when high force is required on the steering wheel
in order to turn the tractor.

2.10.2 Steering Wheel Adjustments

The steering wheel can be adjusted as follows:
- by height, along the steering shaft axis.
- by inclination angle in reference to horizontal plane;
To change the steering wheel 1 (Figure 2.10.1) height, proceed as follows:
- unscrew the clamp 2 by 3...5 revolutions;
- move the steering wheel 1 into required position;
- tighten the clamp 2 by hand force.
Range of the steering wheel adjustment equals to 100 mm.
1 – steering wheel; 2 – clamp; 3 – handle for the steering column inclination fixation.
The steering column can be inclined and fixed in four positions from 25° to 40° in
steps of 5°. To incline the steering column, pull the handle 3, incline the steering column
into position convenient for operation, then while releasing the handle 3 smoothly swing
the steering column lengthwise until it reliably fixed.
When the steering column is fixed in the far front position, place the change-gear
lever into "Neutral" position, then move it into the far left position and start the engine while
holding the lever in this position until the engine is fully started. Then confirm due opera-
tion of the steering control on the parked tractor.
