6.1 Possible Clutch Malfunctions and Directions for their Remedy

The list of clutch possible malfunctions and directions for their remedy is specified in
Table 6.1.1.
Table 6.1.1
Malfunction, evidence, reason
Clutch coupling does not transmit full torque ("slips")
There is no clearance between the release
bearing and applying levers - "coupling is half-
released" (not sufficient free travel of the
clutch pedal)
The clutch coupling is not fully applied (clutch
lever 27 (Figure 5.4.18) does not returns to
initial position) when the clutch pedal is re-
leased because of the clutch control operation
malfunction
Driven disks linings are worn
Greased linings of the driven disks because
oil got into dry compartment
Insufficient force of compression springs
(springs settling during prolonged coupling
slipping or overheating)
Clutch coupling does not deactivates completely ("drives")
Increased clearance between the release
bearing and applying levers (high free travel
of the clutch pedal)
Full travel of the clutch lever 27 (Figure
5.4.18) is not provided when the clutch pedal
is fully pressed
Applying levers are adjusted incorrectly
Increased distortion of driven disks
The driven disk hub is stuck on the transmis-
sion shaft splines
Destroyed bearing of the transmission shaft
support in the flywheel
Clutch lever 27 (Figure 5.4.18) does not returns into initial position when the
clutch pedal is released
There is no clearance between the piston 10
(Figure 5.4.18) and plunger 9 of piston 10 in
the main cylinder 11
Seizure (does not returns into initial position)
of the piston 10 in the main cylinder 11 (Fig-
ure 5.4.18) because of the cup swelling,
which leads to overlapping of the compen-
sating opening А (Figure 6.1.1) of the cylin-
der manufactured by FENOX SP LLC
Seizure of the service cylinder piston be-
cause of the cup and sealing rings swelling.
Compensating opening A (Figure 6.1.1) is
clogged in the main cylinder.
The retracting spring 13 has lost flexibility 13
(Figure 5.4.18)
Malfunction remedy
Adjust clearance according to item 5.4.2.11 "Op-
eration 31.Checking / adjustment the clutch con-
trol"
Find and remedy cause by performing actions
for such malfunction remedying "Clutch lever 27
(Figure 5.4.18) does not returns to initial posi-
tion when the clutch pedal is released"
Replace linings or complete driven disks
Find and remedy the cause of oil getting into
dry compartment
Replace compression springs
Adjust clearance according to item 5.4.2.11 "Op-
eration 31.Checking / adjustment the clutch con-
trol"
Provide for the clutch level full travel by perform-
ing actions to remedy fault "Full travel of the
clutch lever 27 is not provided (Figure 5.4.18)
when the clutch pedal is fully pressed"
Adjust position of the applying levers
Replace driven disks
Clean out the splines to provide for free move-
ment of disks on the transmission shaft
Replace the bearing of the transmission shaft
support
Adjust clearance according to item 5.4.2.11 "Op-
eration 31.Checking / adjustment the clutch control"
Brake fluid of incorrect brand is used or brake flu-
id is contaminated by mineral oil, benzene, kero-
sene, diesel fuel. It is necessary to thoroughly
wash whole hydraulic actuator system by brake
fluid. Replace the main and service cylinders.
Replace the brake fluid. Pump the hydraulic sys-
tem by brake fluid.
Clean the compensating opening in the main
cylinder and pump the clutch control hydraulic
system.
Replace the retracting spring.
