- unscrew the plugs 1 of filling openings of the accumulator batteries and check fol-
lowing:
1. Electrolyte level – if necessary top up by distilled water, so the electrolyte level
would be above the protecting grill by 10 -15 mm or at the level, which is marked on the
battery housing.
2. Batteries charge level according to the electrolyte density – charge batteries if
necessary. The batteries shall not be discharged by more than 50% during summer and
25% during winter.
If the tractor is stored at low temperatures or for over one month, it is necessary to
dismount accumulators and turn them in to warehouse.

7.4 Requirements for Machines Long-Term Storage on Open Sites

Prior to putting into storage, it is necessary to perform the tractor maintenance.
The tractor maintenance while preparing it for long-term storage includes following
operations:
- tractor cleaning and washing;
- dismounting component parts from the tractor, which must be stored at specially
outfitted warehouses;
- sealing of openings (after component parts removal), gaps, cavities to protect
them from moisture and dust ingression;
- preservation of the tractor and component parts, renovation of damaged paint and
lacquer coating;
- placing the tractor onto props (backing bars);
- performing instructions from the engine operation manual for preparing the engine
for long-term storage.
The tractor after operation shall be cleaned from dust, dirt, oil drips, vegetation re-
mains and other impurities. Component parts (generator, relay etc.), which shall be protect-
ed from water, should be covered by jackets made of paraffin-waxed paper or polyethylene
film. After cleaning and washing, it is necessary to blow off the tractor by compressed air in
order to remove moisture. Damaged painting shall be renovated by application of paint and
lacquer coating or other coating according to the requirements of GOST 6572-91.
If the tractor will be stored at open sites for long terms, if is necessary to remove
component parts made of rubber, polymer materials and textile (hydraulic system hoses
etc.) and tools, then prepare them for storage and turn in to the warehouse. Parts for fas-
tening the removed component parts of the tractor shall be installed back at their locations.
Electric equipment (lights, accumulator batteries etc.) shall be cleaned, blown off by com-
pressed air and terminals shall be covered by protective lubricant.
