5.6 Safety Measures While Performing MT and Repairs

5.6.1 General Safety Measures

It is prohibited to lift the tractor bonnet while the engine is running.
Perform the maintenance (repairs) operations only when the engine is stopped and
the rear PTO shaft is deactivated. The mounted machines shall be lowered and the tractor
parking brake should be applied.
Observe safety requirements while using the hosting and transportation means.
While visually inspecting the monitored items use the portable lamp with voltage no
higher than 36 V. The lamp shall be protected by wire mesh.
Tools and appliances for MT performance shall be in good working order, corre-
spond to their purpose and provide for safe performance of works.
To avoid burns, be careful while draining (topping up) the cooling fluid from the en-
gine cooling system, hot oil from the engine, RMD, HPS hydraulic systems, transmission
casings. Avoid contact with the hot surfaces of above listed devices.
Mount and dismount the engine using the rope, which is attached to eyebolts on the
engine.
Do not alternate the tractor or its component parts in any way without getting an ap-
proval from the manufacturer. Otherwise, the tractor warranty will be terminated.
5.6.2 Safety measures to prevent dangers involving the accumulator batteries
and fuel tank
While servicing the accumulator batteries proceed as follows:
- prevent the electrolyte from getting onto skin;
- clean the batteries by wiping cloth moistened by ammonia-water mixture (hydrous
ammonia);
- while checking the electrolyte, top up only by distilled water;
- do not check the batteries charge by short-circuiting the terminals;
- do not connect the accumulator battery with reversed polarity.
Observe following safety measures to prevent damages to the electronic units of the
electric equipment systems and electric control systems:
- do not disconnect the AB outputs while the engine runs. This will lead to the peak
voltage appearance in the charging circuit and will lead to unavoidable damage to diodes
and transistors;
- do not disconnect electric wires when the engine runs and electric switches are
activated;
- do not cause the short-circuit by incorrect wires connection. Short-circuit or incor-
rect polarity will lead to diodes and transistors damage;
- do not connect the AB to the electric equipment system prior to outputs polarity
and voltage confirmation;
- do not check for electric current presence by "sparking", since it will immediately
lead to the transistors disruption;
During repair and welding operations, perform actions listed in subsection 3.3.2
"Fire safety measures".
To prevent inflammation or explosion danger, do not allow for presence of open
flames near the fuel tank, engine fuel system and accumulator batteries.
