5.4.3.5 Operation 45. Checking / adjustment of the parking brake control
ATTENTION: CHECK AND IF NECESSARY ADJUST THE PARKING BRAKE CON-
TROL WHEN THE SERVICE BRAKE CONTROL ADJUSTMENT OPERATIONS AFE FIN-
ISHED!
Check the control of the parking brakes. The tractor shall be able to stand still at slope
under angle of at least 18 % when the force from 350 N to 400 N is applied to the handle 1. If
this requirement is not fulfilled, adjust the parking brake control.
1, 12, 14, 15 – lever; 2 – latch; 3 – sector; 4, 10 – link; 5 – lock nut; 6, 8 – fork; 7, 9, 11 –
pivot; 13 – bolt.
To adjust the tractor parking brakes control, proceed as follows:
- place the lever 1 (Figure 5.4.24) of the parking brake in lowermost (deactivated) posi-
tion;
- take cotter pin out and remove the pivot 7, disconnect the fork 6 from the lever 14;
- take cotter pin out and remove the pivot 11 with washers, disconnect the brake valve
actuator link from the lever 12;
- screw the bolts 13 to select clearance between end faces and strips of the levers 14
for the left and right brake;
- loosen the lock nut 5 and rotate the fork 6 to change length of link 4, so the pivot 7
would be freely connect the link to the lever 15; lock the fork 6 by lock nut 5 and put cotter pin
into pivot 7;
- connect the link 10 of the brake valve to the lever 11 (see method for the brake valve
and its actuator adjustment);
- when force from 350 to 400 N is applied to the lever 1 handle, the latch 2 shall be reli-
ably fixed on the second or third tooth A of sector 3 (this corresponds to the second or third
click when the parking brake is applied).
When the parking brake control is adjusted correctly, the tractor shall be able to stand
still at slope under angle of at least 18 % when the force from 350 N to 400 N is applied to the
handle 1. If necessary, correct adjustment using bolts 13. At that, it is necessary to make sure
that there is no clearance in mating connection between the fork 8 groove edge of the service
cylinder and the pivot 9 of the brake lever 14.
