6.10 Possible Electric Equipment Malfunctions and Directions for their Reme-
dy

6.10.1 General

The BELARUS-921.6 tractor electric equipment consists of electric elements
(switches, relays, electric motors, instruments, lamps, lights, fuses, relay interrupters, sen-
sors etc.), as well as wiring and electric connectors, which are intended for the element
connection to power source and body earthing. To provide for aiding with electric equip-
ment failures searching, this manual is appended by the electric equipment schematic cir-
cuit diagram (Appendix B).
Prior to remedying malfunctions of any electric circuit it is necessary to carefully
study the circuit diagram in order to fully familiarise yourself with function of such electric
circuit. Narrowing the malfunction search area is usually performed by gradual discovering
and elimination of normally functioning elements of the same circuit. If several electric el-
ements are simultaneously faulty, then the most probable cause of malfunction is burning
of corresponding fuse or absence of earthing (in many cases different electric elements
can be connected to the same fuse or to common ground terminal).
The electric equipment failures are frequently caused by simplest reasons, such as
terminals corrosion, fuse failure, fusible link burning or switching relay failure. Visually in-
spect condition of all fuses, wiring and electric connectors of the circuit prior to more spe-
cific inspection of its components malfunctions.
If diagnosis instruments are used for fault-finding, then according to appended
schematic circuit diagram
sequence it is necessary to connect the instrument in order to discover the fault in the
most efficient way. The main diagnosis instruments are the electric circuits tester (multime-
ter), voltmeter (it is also allowable to use 12 V test light (about 21 W) with set of connecting
wires), circuit section conductivity indicator (test probe) including the lamp, own power
supply source and set of connecting wires.
Diagnosis of electric circuits malfunction is not hard-to-solve problem at all on condi-
tion of clear understanding that current is supplied to all electric elements (lamp, electric
motor etc.) from the AB through wires and switches, relays, fuses, fusible links and then
returns to the AB through the tractor earthing. Any troubles related to the electric equip-
ment failure are caused only by one reason - power supply is not fed to them from the AB
or power supply is not returned from them to the AB.
Note:– Information in this subsection 6.10 "Possible electric equipment malfunctions
and directions for their remedy" shall be partially used while remedying faults of the tractor
engine electronic control system.
