4. Connect the cardan shaft part with "tractor" icon to the PTO shaft shank and connect
the other half to the machine PTI shaft. Do not forget to fasten correctly the connecting splined
bushings on the PTO shaft and PTI shaft shanks: the cardan shaft manufacturer determines
the method of fixation.
5. End forks of the machine cardan shaft shall be located in the same plane on the side
of PTO shaft and PTI shaft as shown in Figure 4.9.1.
6. The overload-release coupling as shown in Figure 4.9.2 is installed only from the
side of the hitched machine PTI shaft drive. Other method of installation will not provide for
timely protection of the tractor PTO shaft from the maximum allowable torque exceeding. After
long-term machine downtime, check the overload-release coupling technical condition.

7. If the cardan shaft with protective casing and together with the PTO shaft and PTI shaft
safety devices, with restraining chains on the PTO shaft and on the PTI shaft side, as shown in
Figure 4.9.3, will guarantee the cardan connection safety.

8. When the cardan shaft is used for the first time, it is obligatory to check the cardan
shaft length and if necessary adjust it according to the BELARUS-921.6 tractor operation con-
ditions. For the most detailed recommendations concerning the cardan shaft see the technical
documentation appended to the machine. If necessary, contact the cardan shaft manufacturer.
9. Length of the maximally extended cardan shaft (which is allowable for operation)
shall be when the cardan shaft two parts are in each other by at least L
