6.5 Possible Brakes Malfunctions and Directions for their Remedy

The list of brakes possible malfunctions and directions for their remedy is specified
in Table 6.5.1.
Table 6.5.1
Malfunction, evidence, reason
Disturbed adjustment of the park-
ing brake
Increased free travel of the pedals
(increased clearance between the
piston and plunger of the main cyl-
inder piston)
Air is present in the brakes control
hydraulic system.
Insufficient brake fluid level in the
brakes control hydraulic system
tanks.
Leakage of the main and service
cylinders operating cavities be-
cause of cups or sealing rings
damage or wear
Brake fluid leakage from connec-
tions or pipelines in the hydraulic
actuator system. Air suction into
the brakes control hydraulic sys-
tem.
Clogged openings in the main cyl-
inders tanks fittings, which leads to
pressure drop in the main cylinder,
because of which air bleeds into
cylinder through sealing.
Plugged pipelines of the hydraulic
actuator because of dent or clog-
ging.
Increased working travel of the
brake pedals, or pedal interferes
with the cab wall.
Increased working travel of the
brakes pedals, which is impossible
to adjust - brake disks are worn.
Worn friction brake disks.
Parking brake operates ineffectively
Adjust the parking brake.
Ineffective braking
Adjust the pedals free travel.
Pump the hydraulic system by brake fluid.
Bring the brake fluid level in the main cylinders
tanks up to normal value, and then pump the hy-
draulic system by brake fluid.
If cups or sealing rings are worn, replace them in
the main and service cylinders. Check the main
and service cylinders faces for burrs, unevenness
or pockets. Then pump the hydraulic system by
brake fluid.
Tighten connections, replace damaged parts, and
then pump the hydraulic system by brake fluid.
Clean the opening, and then pump the hydraulic
system by brake fluid.
Replace pipelines, and then pump the hydraulic
system by brake fluid.
Adjust the working travel and position of the brake
pedals.
Disassemble the brakes and replace worn brake
disks. Adjust clearance in friction pairs and working
travel of brakes pedals.
Replace friction disks.
