♦ Spring-type clip pliers - V.A.G 1275-
♦ Torque wrench - V.A.G 1332-
♦ Tool insert 24 mm - V.A.G 1332/11-
Removing
Note
If boot is defective, moisture and dirt will enter steering box. It

should be possible to feel a film of lubricant on and around the
teeth of the steering rack. Renew steering box if no film of lu‐
bricant is present.
The steering box must be replaced.
♦
In the event of corrosion.
♦
In the event of damage.
♦
In the event of excessive wear
♦
In the event of soiling on the steering rack.
♦
– Turn steering wheel to straight-ahead position.
– Remove front wheel on affected side.
