Removing
– Turn steering wheel to straight-ahead position and remove ig‐
nition key so that the steering lock engages.
Vehicles with keyless locking and starting system "Keyless Ac‐
cess"
– Switch off ignition and open driver's door so that the steering
lock engages.
Continuation for all vehicles
– Unscrew bolt -1-.
– Press foot rest -2- upwards in -direction of arrow- and remove
it.
– Fold floor covering to the rear.
– Unscrew bolt -arrow- from universal joint -1- and pull off uni‐
versal joint in -direction of arrow-.
Caution
The following work must not be performed while the universal
joint is separated from the electromechanical steering rack:
♦ Connect battery.
♦ Switch on ignition.
♦ Turning the steering rack
♦ Turning the steering column
Not adhering to these instructions will result in irreparable
damage.
– Remove front wheels.
