Compressor Removal and Installation

Removal
1) Run engine at idle speed with A/C ON for 10
minutes.
2) Stop the engine.
3) Disconnect negative (–) cable at battery.
4) Recover refrigerant from refrigeration system by
referring to "Operation Procedure for Refrigerant
Charging".
NOTE
The amount of removed compressor oil must
be measured for replenishing compressor
oil.
5) Remove compressor drive belt referring to "P/S
Pump Drive Belt Removal and Installation in Section
6C".
6) Disconnect discharge pipe from condenser.
7) Remove condenser cooling fan referring to
"Condenser Cooling Fan Removal and Installation".
8) Disconnect magnet clutch lead wire coupler.
9) Disconnect discharge pipe and suction pipe from
compressor.
NOTE
Cap all of the refrigerant line opening
immediately to keep moisture out of the
system.
10) Remove compressor mounting bolts (1), and then
remove compressor (2) from its bracket.

Installation
S3RH0A7216024 Reverse removal procedure to install compressor noting
the following instructions.
• If compressor is replaced, pour new compressor oil by
referring to "Operation Procedure for Refrigerant
Charging".
• Evacuate and charge system by referring to
"Operation Procedure for Refrigerant Charging".

Compressor Inspection

Check magnet clutch operation and specified current as
follows:
1) Connect battery and ammeter (1) to magnet clutch,
2) Check that ammeter (1) indicates specified current.
Reference
Magnet clutch specified current at 12 V: 3 A
maximum

and then check for magnet clutch operation with
"click" sound.
If indicated current is without current, replace
magnet clutch assembly referring to "Magnet Clutch
Removal and Installation".
