3A-13 Drive Shaft / Axle: Rear
Tightening torque
Rear control rod outer bolt (a): 90 N·m (9.0 kgf-
m, 65.0 lb-ft)
Rear trailing rod rear bolt (b): 90 N·m (9.0 kgf-m,
65.0 lb-ft)
Drive shaft nut (c): 175 N·m (17.5 kgf-m, 126.5 lb-
ft)
• Clean rear wheel bearing oil seal and then apply
grease. Replace it if required.
"A": Grease 99000–25010
• Apply sealant to drain plug for rear differential gear
case.
• Fill rear differential gear case with oil as specified,
refer to "Rear Differential Oil Change in Section 3B".
CAUTION
!
• Protect oil seals and boots from any
damage, preventing them form
unnecessary contact while installing drive
shaft.
• Do not hit joint boot with hammer.
Inserting joint only by hands is allowed.
• Make sure that differential side joint is
inserted fully and its snap ring is seated as
it was.

Rear Drive Shaft Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly
Refer to "Front Drive Shaft Disassembly and Assembly".
Assembly
The point which is different from the front drive shaft is
described.
Fixing boot band, adjust so that measurements become
as indicated in the following.
Grease color
"A": Light black grease
"B": Light black grease
Grease volume to be applied
"A": 35 – 55 g (1.2 – 1.9 oz)
"B": 50 – 70 g (1.8 – 2.5 oz)
Joint set position when fixing boot
"a": 143.1 – 153.1 mm (5.63 – 6.03 in.) for left side
