. To operate the update with the network (ftp), be sure to connect this unit to the network.
. Don't upload with use of the standard FTP program installed originally in Windows 98 system in order
to avoid any suspension of the file transmission.
Exceptionally, however, it can be using a free software available to set time out by setting it to infini-
tude.
As a regular updating tool, GYDIRCtrl.exe is recommended common to the GY series and DIR-240.
1. Enter "ftp [IP address]" from the MS-DOS prompt of the PC connected to the network.
2. Enter the login name and the password as follows.
login : sony
password : gydir
3. After login with ftp, enter "bin" following the prompt "ftp>" to set to the binary mode.

The file is transferred from the ftp server.

When the error message appears during the file transfer, perform the procedures following the list
below.
5. After the transfer is completed, enter "quit" following the prompt "ftp>".
Consequently, the firmware is automatically updated in the following order.
DSP CPU → SV1 CPU → SV2 CPU → SYS CPU → IF CPU → FMT CPU
After the update is all completed, this unit will be reactivated.
6. Check that the firmware revision and the ROM version are updated.
(As for confirming method, refer to Section 1-15-1 or 1-15-2.)
Handling the ftp update errors

"331 Password required for sony."
"425 Can't open data connection."
"450 File busy. Requested file action not taken."
"500 Syntax error, command unrecognized."
"501 Syntax error in parameters or arguments."
"502 Command not implemented."
"504 Command not implemented for that parameter."
"530 Not logged in."
"550 [file name] No such file or directory."
"500 user not found."

Enter the correct password.
The password of "sony" is "gydir", unchangeable.
