5-4. DIAG Mode
i. CH02-Reel Shift Motor Check
Function: Checks the reel shift motor function.
Operation:
(1) Without loading any cassette, enter "CH02"". The reel shift test mode is entered and the following
will be displayed.

Entering J, K or " ; " executes the reel shift operations listed below.
J: Reel shift from S to L
K: Reel shift from L to S
" ; ": Operations stop
" : ": Exits the reel positioning check mode
The following indicates the current status of the respective sensors. When the sensor is functioning, the
display changes from "_" to "*".
[Ttop-]: Tape Top sensor
[Tend-]: Tape End sensor
[Dew-]: Dew sensor
[Unth-]: Unthread End sensor
[Thre-]: Thread End sensor
[SftL-]: Reel L Position sensor
[SftS-]: Reel S Position sensor
(2) Check the following:
1 When the J key is pressed, the reel tables move and stop at the L position.
2 Check that the display changes from "[SftL-]" to "[SftL*]".
3 When the K key is pressed, the reel tables move and stop at the S position.
4 Check that the display changes from "[SftS-]" to "[SftS*]".
(3) To end, enter " : ".
When the above fails:
When the reel table operations are faulty
. Check mechanical faults.
. Check the reel shift motor drive circuit (SV-205 board).
. Check the reel shift motor.
If the reel table position and sensor display do not match
. Check the S position sensor and L position sensor (SV-205 board).
. Check the sensor input port of the CPU on the SV-205 board.
