*1 For details on the RS-232C cable used for connecting the GY-8240 and the PC, refer to Section 1-5.
*2 Set the RS-232C port of the PC as follows. (For details on how to change settings, refer to the instruc-
tion manual of the PC used, or the instruction manual of the terminal emulation software installed in
the PC.)

If the GY-8240 baud rate is not known, set the service menu mode on the front panel, select "SERV
menu", then select "Option 1 port" to check the baud rate. After checking, connect as required.
*3 When connecting the PC/workstation and GY-8240 one to one, use a crossed cable. When connecting
with a HUB, use a straight cable. (The cable is "straight" in general.)
*4 For details on the network port of the PC/workstation, refer to the instruction manual of the PC/
workstation or the instruction manual of the terminal software installed in the PC/workstation. Specify
the IP address of the GY-8240 for the connection destination.
If the GY-8240 IP address is not known, set the user menu mode on the front panel, select "SETUP
menu", then select "Option 3 port" to check and set the IP address, subnet mask and gateway. After
checking and setting, connect as required.
To check if the RS-232C port has been connected and operated normally, start the GY-8240 and check
that one of the start screens below is displayed on the terminal software screen of the PC/workstation
connected to each port.
Characters entered will be echoed back. Entering "HELP"" displays the help menu. (Refer to 5-2-1.
HELP Mode for details.)
For the network port, after starting the GY-8240, connect by Telnet, and enter the HELP command to
check the connection.
