3-3. Drum Assembly Replacement
Removal
1. Removing the W Cleaner Assembly
Remove the W cleaner assembly.
(Refer to steps 1 and 2 in Section 3-5.)
2. Disconnecting the Flexible Card Wire
Disconnect the flexible card wire from the
connector CN2 on the HN-258 board.
3. Removing the Drum Assembly
(1) Turn the upper drum assembly with fingers
counterclockwise and align the hole of the
upper drum assembly with the fixing screw
position on the lower drum assmbly.

The drum assembly is fixed to the MD base
assembly with the three fixing screws (C3 x 8)
in the screw hole.
(2) Loosen the screw fully using a hexagonal
wrench driver.

These screws cannot be removed because of
stoppers.
(3) Loosen other two screws fully in the same
way in steps (1) and (2).
(4) Remove the two screws, then remove the leaf
spring (2).
(5) Raise the drum assembly uprightly.

. Be careful not to raise the drum assembly
by holding the brush/slip ring assembly.
. When lifting up the drum assembly, the
drum harnesses connected to the drum
assembly are retracted in the underside of
the MD base assembly, therefore use care
to prevent the drum harnesses from con-
tacting to other parts in vicinity.
(6) Disconnect the three drum harness from the
three connectors of the drum assembly while
keeping state of step (5).
According the drum assembly can be re-
moved.

Be careful not to touch the CTL/TC head and
peripheral tape guides when removing the
drum assembly.
