6-84 Section 060-INDP-610 Maintenance Procedures Guide
Procedure 6-26
Download and Boot Software with Software Running
Step
Description
84
Test if the software is functional. Try a few commands on the Standby Processor to verify
the software. The command in this step displays the software and version IDs on the
Standby Processor. If the System does not respond as expected, do not proceed, the
software may be faulty. Enter (at the terminal):
>DOS S VS (cr)
85
Switch the processor with the new software from Standby to Active. Enter (at the
terminal):
>SWACT (cr)
This allows the new Standby with its old software to be "booted" with new software with
subsequent commands, from the Active Processor that has the new software, while
maintaining billing data processing on the newly Active Processor. Successful processor
switch is indicated by the message:
MP SWITCH
86
Observe the following message on the terminal:
NO SITE DATA ON DISK
Site data used during the boot-up is the default data. If some other error message is
output out, refer to the procedure for that message in this section and perform the
activities listed.
87
Power down the Standby Processor to clear all RAM and reboot the Standby Processor.
Wait 15 seconds. With the power off, the copy of the obsolete TDYSTS file data in RAM is
erased. Return power to the Standby Processor.
88
Test if the software is functional. Enter (at the terminal):
>DOS S VS (cr)
89
Edit the site data parameters. Use the site data parameters from step 7 to modify the
default parameters for the specific requirements of this site. This updates site data for the
current Active Processor only.
