2-52 Section 060-INDP-111 System Description
BMC systems for DMS-100 Switching Systems can be equipped with
Enhanced Alarm Cables, which enable a temperature alarm system error
message to be issued at the maintenance terminal.
Low Voltage Alarm
The low voltage alarm is activated when the voltage output of the BMC
power supply drops below a given threshold. The threshold is set above the
point when the voltage becomes insufficient to support normal operation. A
voltage sensor located on the P/A Comm PCA detects the condition, sending
a warning signal through a cabled connection to the Switching System. Just
as with the temperature alarm, the Switching System displays the signal either
as an external alarm or as determined by local practices. BMC systems for
DMS-100 Switching Systems can be equipped with Enhanced Alarm Cables,
which enable a low voltage alarm system error message to be issued at the
maintenance terminal.
48V Fuse Alarm
The 48V Fuse Alarm is activated when the -48V fuse on either BMC power
supply blows. A -48 VDC signal is placed on a connector point at the BMC
input connection point, where it is then cabled to the Switching System and
displayed either in the form of a warning light or other locally approved
reporting method.
12V DC Fuse Alarm
Indicates that either one of the 12 VDC fuses on the BMC Input Connector
Panels is open. This alarm applies to DMS-10 applications only. This alarm
is not displayed but is transmitted to the Switching System. When
encountered, this alarm indicates that no communication between the
DMS-10 magnetic tape ports and the BMC is possible. Refer to the
Maintenance Procedures Guide section for more information.
Other Indicators
The system contains no audible alarm devices. Relay contacts are provided
for routing of alarm signals to the Office Alarm system. Refer to Power and
Ground Requirements subsection.
