7-10 Section 060-INDP-710 DMS-10 Switch Specific Data
Within the Interface Box, the input signals from the NT3T12 connector are
fed to the NT3T11PCA, combined onto one ribbon cable, then fed to the 60-
pin J1 connector. The +12 V dc is fed from the input connector to the PCA to
power the NT3T11 circuitry.
The front panel of the NT3T11 Interface Box is plain, designed to provide a
neat appearance from the front of the frame.
Connecting +12 V DC Power to NT3T11 Interface Boxes
Locate two of the NT8M99AA cable assemblies shown in Figure 7-2. These
cables are used to connect +12 V dc from the J17 connector on the side panels
of the BMC chassis to the two NT3T11 Interface Boxes. Connections are
made from both A and B BMC processing units to both NT3T11 Interface
Boxes, so that, should either of the processing units be powered down, +12 V
dc power is still applied to both NT3T11 Interface Boxes.
Note that each cable assembly consists of two lengths of wire terminated with
spade lugs. Attach the cables per Figure 7-7. The other identical cable
assembly connects to the B processor J17 in the same way described
previously.
Connecting Data Ribbon Cables from NT3T11 Interface Boxes to the BMC
Chassis
Locate the two 60-pin ribbon cable assemblies shown in Figure 7-3, used to
connect the data lines between the NT3T11 Interface Boxes and the BMC
chassis. These ribbon cables are 4 feet long, and are equipped with two 60-
pin connectors and a drain wire (attaches to BMC). Check the connector
shell on the connectors and the stripe on the ribbon cable to verify the pin 1
location.
Note that the two ribbon cable assemblies are identified by labels applied to
the connectors. These labels indicate the cable wire number, W63 or W65,
and also the plug number, P9 or P10, assigned to that specific connector. The
W numbers are used to locate where the wire assembly is to be used on the
BMC chassis, and the P numbers are used to indicate the matching jack
numbers, J9 or J10, on the B chassis, as explained by the instructions in the
following paragraph.
Locate the jacks on the equipment to which the ribbon cables connect. Refer
to Figure 7-8. On the rear of the top and bottom NT3T11 Interface Boxes,
locate the 60-pin connectors marked J1. On the side of the BMC B chassis,
left, viewed from rear, locate the J9 and J10 60-pin connectors.
