Disk mode definitions
Mode
Description
AO
A Only - BMC processors read data from and write data to the disk in the A chassis
ONLY.
BO
B Only - BMC processors read data from and write data to the disk in the B chassis
ONLY.
AP
A Prime - BMC MP writes duplicate information to both disks (A and B). Disk in A chassis
is said to be the PRIME disk and the active processor reads data from that disk and
accesses the disk in the B chassis at the same time.
BP
B Prime - BMC MP writes duplicate information to both disks (A and B). Disk in B chassis
is said to be the PRIME disk and the active processor reads data from that disk and
accesses the disk in the A chassis at the same time.
NONE
BMC is unable to access either disk for read or write functions. This indicates:
- a failure to set up disk mode at the factory (initial installation)
- hardware failure (i.e., improper installation cabling, rough handling of disk drive
assembly, or a PCA failure).
To change the current disk mode, enter the following command:
>DISK MODE value (cr)
where:
value- a valid disk mode. Refer to Table 4-7 for a list of the allowed
disk drive unit mode changes.
