DMS-100 Switch Specific Data
This document contains information concerning the switch-specific data
pertinent to installing and testing a BMC chassis interfaced to a Nortel
DMS-100 Digital Switching System. This information includes instructions
and illustrations for physically connecting the DSI - Tape Port and
maintenance terminal interfaces between the DMS-100 and the BMC, and
provides procedures for testing the integrity of the interface installations.
DSI/DMS-100 Interface Installation Information
One Interface Box, Nortel Part No. NT6M98AA, is furnished with the BMC
equipment used in the application with the DMS-100. This box is used to
provide two signal interfaces between the DMS-100 tape ports and the inputs
to the DSI PCAs in the BMC chassis. Cables and mounting hardware are
included.
The Interface Box is metal and is furnished with mounting brackets for
attaching the box to the frame. The Interface Box dimensions are shown in
Figure 8-1. The location of where the box is to be installed is predetermined
by the engineers designing the various installations, and may vary from site to
site. Normally, the location is immediately above the BMC chassis.
The rear panel of the Interface Box provides the connections to the DMS-100
tape ports and to the BMC chassis. The connector panel is divided into two
identical interfaces, one at the left, one at the right, as viewed from the rear.
Refer to Figure 8-2. The left section provides the interface from the
DMS-100 Tape Port 0; the right section the interface from the DMS-100 Tape
Port 1.
The connectors J1 READ, J2 WRITE, and J3 CONTROL on the left and right
sections of the Interface Box duplicate the connectors which were previously
used on the MTUs, which were removed from the system and replaced by the
BMC equipment. These connectors provide attachment for the existing
cables from the DMS-100 tape ports, which originally connected to the tape
units.
