DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE WITH DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC)

CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN CRANK-
SHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND ECM.
1) Turn ignition switch to OFF.
2) Disconnect connector from ECM.
3) Measure resistance between crankshaft
position sensor and ECM.
Connector & terminal
(E10) No. 1 — (B135) No. 2:
(E10) No. 2 — (B135) No. 11:

CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN CRANK-
SHAFT POSITION SENSOR AND ECM.
Measure resistance between crankshaft posi-
tion sensor and engine ground.
Connector & terminal
(E10) No. 1 — Engine ground:
(E10) No. 2 — Engine ground:

CHECK CONDITION OF CRANKSHAFT
POSITION SENSOR.
4
CHECK CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR.
1) Turn ignition switch to OFF.
2) Remove crankshaft position sensor.
3) Measure resistance between connector
terminals of crankshaft position sensor.
Terminals
No. 1 — No. 2:

CHECK POOR CONTACT.
Check poor contact in ECM connector.
Step
Is the resistance less than
1 Ω?
Is the resistance more than
1 MΩ?
Is the crankshaft position
sensor installation bolt
tightened securely?
Is the resistance between
1,600 and 2,100 Ω?
Is there poor contact in
ECM connector?

Yes
Go to step 2.
Go to step 3.
Go to step 4.
Go to step 5.
Repair poor con-
tact in ECM con-
nector.

No
Repair open cir-
cuit between
crankshaft posi-
tion sensor and
ECM.
Repair ground
short circuit
between crank-
shaft position sen-
sor and ECM.
Tighten crankshaft
position sensor
installation bolt.
Replace crank-
shaft position sen-

Replace ECM.
