3 Image Tools

You can modify images many ways using the image tools, available when accessing images on
the Reconstruction and Image Processing Task List

3.1 Display normal

Use this procedure to restore an image to its original size and orientation. This feature removes
all filters, magnification factors, orientation changes and graphics.
1. Hover over the top of the viewport to display the viewport control panel.

3.2 Edge, smoothing and lung enhancement filters

The edge and smoothing filters enhance anatomical structure without additional reconstruction
time.
Edge Enhancement filters sharpen the image and are useful for filming bone windows. There
are six levels of Edge Enhancement: E1, E2, E21, E22, E23 and E3. E1 applies the least
amount of enhancement and E3 applies the most. When these filters are used, the image is
annotated with E1, E2, E21, E22, E23 or E3.
The smoothing filters decrease the appearance of noisy images or enhance low-contrast areas
when filming soft tissue. There are five Smoothing filters, S1, S11, S2, S22 and S3. S1 applies
the least amount of smoothing and S3 applies the most. When these filters are used, the
images is annotated with S1, S11, S2, S22, or S3.
The Lung Enhancement filter is designed specifically to use when filming lung windows. When
the Lung Enhancement filter is applied, the image is annotated with the word Lung.
