Note 1:
6.2.12 IEEE802.1X Authentication
This section explains how to assign data for IEEE 802.1X authentication for DT700 Series.
DT700 Series supports the User Name and Password-based IEEE 802.1X (EAP-MD5) authentication method.
When a PC with supplicant feature available is connected to the DT700 Series' PC port, EAP packet can be for-
warded from that PC via DT700 Series (EAP Forwarding Feature).
There are four connection patterns.
PATTERN 1:
•
Hardware is not connected to DT700 Series terminal's PC port.
•
User enables DT700 Series terminal's 802.1X Supplicant feature.
•
DT700 Series operates by connecting to a switch corresponding to authentication.
•
If unauthorized hardware is connected to the PC port after authentication process is completed, un-
authorized access to the network will occur. To prevent this from happening, we recommend users
to perform either of the following:
• Perform preventive measures on authentication switch side
• Disable PC Port in DT700 Series' Configuration menu
PATTERN 2:
•
Hardware without Supplicant feature is connected to DT700 Series terminal's PC port.
•
User enables DT700 Series terminal's 802.1X Supplicant feature.
•
DT700 Series operates by connecting to a switch corresponding to authentication.
•
Regarding the PC connected to DT700 Series terminal:
To register the PC's MAC Address as authorized hardware, the following are required on the au-
thentication switch side:
• Multi–Host Authentication Feature
• MAC Address Authentication Feature
•
When separating audio and data network by attaching different VLAN ID to the packets from the
PC and the packets from the DT700 Series respectively:
• Multi–Host Authentication Feature corresponding to Tag VLAN is required on
