To configure the ASM-SFN image boot variable for VSFN on switches running Cisco MDS SAN-OS
Release 2.0(1b) through Release 2.1(1a), follow these steps:
Log into the switch through the console port, an SSH session, or a Telnet session.
Step 1
Step 2
Verify that the ASM or SSM is physically installed in the switch. If the module is not physically

You can specify only one image for the ASM-SFN image boot variable per module.
If you do not save this configuration, it is lost on a switch reboot, and the ASM or SSM stays in
the power-down state if your switch is running Cisco MDS SAN-OS Release 2.1(1a) or earlier,
or comes up in Fibre Channel switching mode if your switch is running Cisco MDS SAN-OS
Release 2.1(2) or later. You must perform this procedure again to recover the ASM-SFN image
boot variable configuration.
