10. Clean the contact
surface and apply
engine oil to the filter
seals (inner & outer).
CAUTION
Fuel in the old filter must absolutely not be
poured into the new filter. This kind of
contaminated fuel can damage the unit
injectors.
11. Tighten the new dry primary fuel filter to the
fuel filter housing by hand. Rotate clockwise
until the seal is tight against the housing.
Then rotate clockwise another 1/2-3/4 turn.
If the fuel filter is being replaced at this time,
proceed to "Secondary
Replacement".
12. Plug the connector.
13. Open the fuel supply line shut-off valve.
14. Prime the system by operating hand primer
pump until resistance is felt indicating that
the system is full of fuel.
15. Start the engine and carry out a fuel-
tightness check. Let the engine run for about
5 minutes to remove air pockets from the
fuel system.
Do not install pre-GHG17 fuel filters on GHG17
engines.
Although the thread pitch is the same, these
filters do not fit and may cause serious issues
with the fuel system.
Refer to Impact for the appropriate fuel filters
part numbers.
