Lift out the crankshaft.
HINT Keep the upper bearing and upper thrust wash-
§§& $96.... with the cylinder block.
Clean each main journal and bearing
Check each main journal and bearing for pitting and
scratches.
If the journal or bearing is damaged, replace the bear-
ings. If necessary, grind or replace the crankshaft
Place the crankshaft on the cylinder block
Lay a strip of Plastigage across each journal
lnstall the main bearing caps.
(See step 5 on page EG—152)
Torque: 59 N-m (600 kgf-cm, 44 ft-Ibf)
NOTICE: Do not turn the crankshaft.
Remove the main bearing caps.
(See procedure (a) and (b) above)
