Appendix A:
Upgrading from Previous Versions of Schlage Express
It is possible to upgrade your system from a previous version of Schlage Express. Follow the directions below to upgrade your
system.
Î Note: Program Settings and other individual settings will not be backed up and will need to be re-entered into the new version
after upgrade.
1. Backup the database
b. The system is set, by default, to automatically
backup the database whenever the system is
closed. Make sure this feature is enabled. See
Settings on page 29 for more information.
c. Close the system to back up the database.
4. Copy the backed up database file to another
location or folder.
e. Open the location of the backup file.
f. Copy the file.
g. Paste the copied file into a new directory of
your choice.
8. Uninstall the current version of the Schlage Express
i. Open the Control Panel.
j. Open the Add or Remove Programs option.
k. Select Name from the Sort by drop down box.
l. Scroll down the list until you see Schlage
Express. Select it.
m. Click the Remove button. Schlage Express will
be uninstalled.
14. Delete the Schlage Express folder from Program
Files. (Because of the ProxXLator.exe program the
folder will need to be manually removed).
o. Go to My Computer.
p. Click on C:\
q. Click on Program Files.
r. Find and Select the Schlage Express folder.
s. Right Click and select Delete from the drop down options. The Confirm Folder Delete window will open.
t. Click OK. The folder will be deleted.
21. Install this version (4.2) of Schlage Express. See Installing/Starting Schlage Express on page 19 for more information.
22. Restore the back up the previous version.
w. Sign into Schlage Express.
x. Go to Facility>Restore Backup.
y. Click Yes. The Select Facility to Restore window will open.
z. Navigate to the database that was backed up from the previous version and select the backup file.
aa. Click Open. The Existing Facility File Found window will open.
ab. Click OK.
The old Database has been attached to the new version of Schlage Express and your upgrade is complete.
