PKT-INT (Packet Interface)
TN799 Control LAN (C-LAN) packet port circuit pack
TN2501 Voice Announcements over the LAN (VAL)
The links that pass through the Packet Interface circuit are identified as either
"application" or "system" links as follows:
1. Application links
a. Endpoints requiring connectivity to the server via the C-LAN board's
2. System links
Distributed PKT-INTs
In earlier G3r systems, every PKT-INT resided in the PPN and terminated all of
the LAP-D links. In S8700 IP Connect, LAP-D links are terminated by the
PKT-INTs within IPSIs that are distributed out to every EPN. Whereas, G3r
allowed up to three active and three standby PKT-INTs in the PPN, S8700 IP
Connect allows one PKT-INT in each EPN (that is, up to 64 PKT-INTs in the
system).
