TX Matrix Plus Router Hardware Guide

WARNING: To avoid harm to yourself or the TX Matrix Plus router as you
install and maintain it, you must follow the the safety procedures for
working with Internet routers, as well as the guidelines and warnings for
working with and near electrical equipment. However, providing an
exhaustive set of guidelines for working with electrical equipment is beyond
the scope of this documentation.
See "General Safety Guidelines for M Series, MX Series, and T Series Routers" on
page 391 and "General Safety Warnings for M Series, MX Series, and T Series Routers"
on page 395.
If you plan to run a release prior to Junos OS Release 10.0, remove Type 1 FPCs, Type
4.
2 FPCs, and T640 Enhanced Scaling FPC4-1P FPCs, and install blanks in the FPC slots.
NOTE: Although you can choose to leave unsupported FPCs in the T1600
router, the FPCs and PICs installed in those FPCs will not come online and
will not function.
For information about removing FPCs, see the T1600 Core Router Hardware Guide.
Verify that you have the required rear fan tray. An upgraded rear fan tray (part number

760-024613) is required to cool the chassis. Part number 760-009870 is not supported
for a T1600 router in a routing matrix.
Verify that you have the required power supplies. An upgraded three-input 240-A

power supply (part number 740-026384) or a four-input 240-A power supply is
required. The three-input 240-A power supply (part number 740-017906) is not
supported for a T1600 router in a routing matrix.
Gather the tools required to upgrade the T1600 router hardware components.

Unpack the T1600 router components and verify the parts received.

Power off the T1600 router.
