Circuit/System Verification
NOTE
The engine oil level and the oil pressure are
critical to the correct operation of the
camshaft position (CMP) actuator system.
Verify that the engine has the correct oil level
and the correct oil pressure before
continuing with this diagnostic. Refer to
"Fluid and Lubricant Recommendations: "
and "Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing: "
for more information.
Engine General Information and Diagnosis:
• Start the engine. Verify there is no abnormal engine
noise during start up.
• Observe the DTC information with a scan tool. DTCs
P1011, P1012, P1013, and P1014 should not set.
• If the vehicle passes the Circuit/System Verification
test, then operate the vehicle within the conditions for
running the DTC. You may also operate the vehicle
within the conditions that are captured in the Freeze
Frame/Failure Records Data List.
• Inform the customer that the following actions may
cause DTCs P1011, P1012, P1013, or P1014 to set:
– Turning the engine OFF while the accelerator pedal
is pressed
– Turning the engine OFF while driving
– Pressing the accelerator pedal to start the engine
Circuit/System Testing
Start the engine.
➢ If there is an abnormal engine noise, or DTCs
P1011, P1012, P1013, or P1014 set, replace the
appropriate CMP actuator.
➢ If the customers concern is that the engine is
stalling, refer to "Symptoms - Engine Controls" for
further diagnosis.
