on striker b o lt when door is closed. If bolt is
positioned too high on pillar, rapid wear w ill occur
to the lock cam; if too low , an extra load w ill be
placed on door hinges as well as pull door downward
and o u t of alignment.
G enerally the striker bolt height adjustm ent can be checked
quite accurately by ju st sighting the center o f " V " slot on
do or w ith the center o f striker b olt as illstrated in Figure 20.
However, to m ake a m ore positive check, perform the fol­
lowing:
1. M ark a horizontal line through center o f " V " slot and on
door lock cam as show n in Figure 21.
2. Smear some grease or paint on co n tac t edge o f lock cam
as show n in same view.
3. Slow ly close door until cam barely contacts the striker
bolt to leave an im pression in grease. O pen door and
check co n tact m ark on edge o f cam. Mark should be
located along centerline m ark.
4.
If necessary, raise or low er the loosened striker b o lt up or
dow n by tapping on th e washer or spacer at base o f
striker bolt. DO NOT TAP ON HEAD O F BOLT. Torque
bolt to specifications.
Door Rear Edge " In " or " O u t" Adjustm ent
This adjustm ent is for purpose o f aligning the rear surface of
door flush w ith adjacent surfaces o f cab. If surfaces are n o t
flush, proceed as follows:
1. Mark the horizontal line on cab pillar at top o f striker
b o lt base washer or spacer.
2. Loosen striker b o lt slightly, then tap against b o lt base
washer, to remove bolt " in" or " o u t" as necessary to
locate door surface flush w ith cab surface when door is
closed. Before tightening the striker b olt m ake sure top
o f b olt base w asher is contacting the horizontal m ark on
cab pillar. T orque bolt to specifications.

Front Latch Assembly

Removal
1. Remove trim panel (if so equipped).
2.
Remove access cover.
3. Unscrew door lock knob from rod.
4. D isconnect the following rods from latch (Fig. 22).
a.
rear latch rods
b.
lock cylinder rod
c.
door lock rod
5.
Remove door handle.
6.
Remove screws retaining latch assembly to door.
7. Slide latch rearw ard and lift fro n t o f latch. D isconnect
rod leading to low er hinge door catch by pushing rod o ut
o f hole and rotating rod clear of latch (Fig. 23).
8.
Remove latch assembly from door.
