striker plate, preventing upward or downward movement o f
the hood while the vehicle is in m otion. Integral with the
striker plate is the combination lock release lever and safety
catch.
Replacement
1. Open hood and remove the four bolts holding the
combination lock catch and lock bolt.
N O T E : If original hood lock assembly is to be
replaced, scribe a li" " around lock fo r alignment on
installation.
2. Place hood lock assembly in position.
3. Adjust as outlined under Adjustments.

C A U T IO N : Hood lock assembly to be adjusted fore

elongated guide. Bending bolt to accomplish this
adjustment may seriously effect lock operation and
safety catch engagement

th a t they are ju st " snug" enough to hold lock bolt in

Raise hood again; lock bolt assembly will have shifted to

m en t may be made at lock b o lt sup port, if necessary.
