. R o tate or replace cam lubricator, as required.

Set p oin t opening (.0 1 9 " for new points).
10.
Reinstall dust shield, ro to r, position and lock distributor
cap to housing.
11.
S tart engine and test dwell and ignition tim ing.
Eight Cylinder Engine Distributor
1.
The contact point set is replaced as one com plete
assembly and only dwell angle requires adjustm ent after
replacem ent.
Breaker
alignment are factory set.
2.
Remove the distributor cap b y placing a screwdriver in
the slot head o f th e latch, press down and tu rn 1/4 tu rn
in either direction.
3.
Rem ove ro to r attaching screws and ro to r.
4.
Loosen th e tw o attaching screws w hich hold th e base o f
the co ntact set assem bly in place and slide set from
breaker plate.
5.
Rem ove th e prim ary and condenser leads from their
n y lon insulated connection (Fig. 2i) in con tact set.

Reverse Steps 2, 3 and 4 to install new con tact set.
C A U T IO N :
Install
the
leads as shown in Figure 3i. Im proper installation
w ill cause lead interference between the cap, weight
base and breaker advance plate.

R o tate or replace cam lubricator as required.

Six Cylinder Engine Distributor
The p o in t opening o f new points can be checked w ith a
feeler gauge, b u t the use o f a feeler gauge on rough or
uncleaned used points is n o t recom m ended since accurate
mechanical gauging cannot be done on such points (Fig. 3i).
C ontacts points m ust be set to th e proper opening. Points
set too close may ten d to burn and pit rapidly. Points w ith
excessive separation ten d to cause a weak spark at high speed.
Proper p o in t setting for all models are:
.019" for new points
.016" for used points
