LIG HT SWITCH REPLACEMENT (Fig. 6)
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Reaching up behind instrument panel, depress shaft
retaining button and remove switch knob-shaft.
3. From front o f instrument panel remove switch retaining
nut.
4. Push switch from panel opening and remove multiple
electrical connector at switch terminals.
5. To install, reverse Steps 1-4, note grounding ring must be
installed on switch.

STOP LAMP SWITCH REPLACEMENT

(Fig. 7)
1. Disconnect wiring harness connector from switch and
remove switch retaining nut under instrument panel.
2. Depress brake pedal, place new switch into bracket,
install retaining nut and electrical connector.
3. Check switch for operation. Electrical contact should be
made when pedal is depressed 3/8" to 5/8" from fully
released position.

1. F old back left side o f floor m at and disconnect wiring
con n ecto r from sw itch terminals.
2. Remove (2 ) two screws securing sw itch to floor pan.
3. C onnect electrical plug to replacem ent sw itch and check
o peration.
4. Position sw itch on floor pan and install retaining screws.
5. Flip floor m at back in place.
Sw itch L ocated on Transmission
1. F rom under vehicle left side disconnect switch wiring
from engine wiring harness.
2. Remove b o lt attaching the sw itch to the transm ission and
disengage sw itch from shift lever rod.
3. Position new sw itch to transm ission and install sw itch
attaching bolt.
4. Pin sw itch lever in N EUTRAL position w ith a suitable
pin.
5. P u t transm ission shift lever in NEUTRAL.

. Install rod in to sw itch lever. It may be necessary to adjust
swivel on rod to allow free entry o f rod into sw itch lever.
7. Secure rod w ith retainer to sw itch, attach sw itch electri­
cal con n ecto r to engine wiring harness and check opera­
tio n o f switch.

Sw itch L ocated on Transmission
1. F rom under vehicle disconnect electrical plug at sw itch
term inals.
2. Rem ove sw itch from transm ission side cover.
3. Install back-up lamp sw itch in transm ission side cover.
4. C onnect electrical plug to switch.
5. T u rn on ignition sw itch and check for o peration o f
back-up lam ps w hen transm ission is shifted into reverse
only.
