N O T E : If old cable is broken it w ill be necessary
to remove lower piece fro m transmission end of
casing.
3. L ubricate th e low er 3 /4 length o f (shaft) cable w ith
speedom eter cable lubricate and feed th e shaft into the
casing. DO NOT KINK THE SPEEDOM ETER CASING.
4. C onnect the u pper end o f the casing to the speedom eter
head and road test the vehicle for correct speedom eter-
odom eter operation.
FUEL GAUGE REPLACEMENT (Fig. 11)
1. Remove in stru m en t
described.
2. Rem ove in stru m en t cluster bulb holders, ground screws,
nuts and washers retaining lam inated circuit to fuel gauge
rear cover.
3. Remove (3 ) screws retaining fuel gauge rear cluster cover.
4. Lift gauge away from lam inated curcuit and rear cluster
cover.
5. To install, reverse removal steps 1-4 and check operation
o f fuel gauge.

first, then resistor, then a nut on each stud, next the
laminated circuit, then a plain washer on each of
tw o studs holding laminated circuit and finally a nut
on back o f the studs that have a washer and
laminated circuit.
TEM PERATURE SENDER U N IT
REPLACEMENT
N O T E : See Section O —Coolant Recommendations.
1. Relieve coolant system pressure by loosening
rad iato r cap, th en reinstall cap tightly.
2. Remove sender u n it located in left cylinder
head.
3. Install new tem perature sending unit in cyl­
in d er head and connect electrical plug.
4. Add coolant to radiator if necessary, replace
radiator pressure cap and
op eratio n o f tem p eratu re indicator light or
gauge.
