ACCELERATOR AND CHOKE
CONTROLS
TH R O TTLE LINKAG E (Fig. K5 thru K7)
The th ro ttle control system is o f th e cable typ e. There are
no th ro ttle linkage adjustm ents, a reference betw een the
b o tto m o f the accelerator pedal roller and floor pan should be
used only as a check for b en t b racket assemblies. Check torque
references in Figures K5 th ru K 7. Check for correct opening
and closing positions b y operating accelerator pedal in car.
Cable routing attach m en t, carburetor positioning for proper
assembly should be n o te d in 1972 as depicted by some o f the
follow ing illustrations.
N O T E :
If any binding is present, check fo r correct
routing of cable or pedal interference w ith carpets.
TH R O TTLE ROD KICKDOWN
LINKAG E ADJUSTMENT
1.
D isconnect
th ro ttle
carburetor or at dash lever.
N O T E :
Cable controls do not require adjustment.
2.
On autom atic transm ission equipped vehicles disconnect
TV rod at th ro ttle lever.

H old carburetor thro ttle in wide open position, push
th ro ttle rod rearw ard (to position accelerator pedal at the
floor m at) and adjust swivel to ju st enter hole in th rottle
lever.

Connect swivel to th ro ttle lever and install accelerator

return spring.
5.
O n vehicles equipped w ith autom atic transm ission hold
th ro ttle lever in full open position, pull TV rod to full
d eten t position and adjust TV rod to ju st enter hole on
th ro ttle lever, and connect TV rod at th ro ttle lever.
