Replacement
1.
Remove th e sealing strip at the forw ard edge o f the duct.
2.
Remove the ro o f panel trim strip.
3.
Remove rear dom e light.
4.
Rem ove the screws securing the rear duct.
5.
Rem ove the du ct from the retaining flanges at the rear,
side and fro n t retainers (in th a t order).
6. P ry the ferrules o u t o f the drain tubes and disconnect the
drain tubes from the rear duct.
7.
Rem ove the duct assembly.
8. T o install, reverse Steps 1-7 above.
BLOWER MOTOR ASSEMBLIES (C-63)
Removal (Fig. 40)
1. D isconnect the b attery ground cable and com pressor
clutch connector.
2.
Rem ove the rear duct as o utlined previously.
3.
Rem ove the blow er m o to r ground straps at the center
con nector betw een the m otors.
4.
D isconnect the blow er m o to r lead wires.
5.
Rem ove
the lower to upper blow er-evaporator case
screws and low er the low er case and m o to r assemblies.
W A R N IN G :
Before removing the case screws, sup­
port the lower case to prevent damage to the case or
m otor assemblies.
6.
Remove th e m o to r retaining strap an d remove the m o to r
and wheels. Rem ove the wheels from the m otor shaft.
Installation
1. Place th e blow er wheels on to the m o tor shaft and install
the set screws; do n o t tighten the set screws at this tim e.
C A U T IO N :
Be sure th a t the blower wheels are
installed as shown in the Service Manual.

2.
Install th e blow er m o to r retaining strap and foam .
3.
Place th e tw o blow er m o to r and w heel assemblies into
the low er case. Align the blow er wheels so th a t th ey do
n o t co n tact the case and th en tighten the wheel set
screws.
4.
Place the low er case and blow er m o to r assemblies in
position in the vehicle and install the low er to upper case
screws.
N O T E :
Rotate the blower wheels to make sure
that they do not rub on the case.
5.
Install the center ground wires and connect the blow er
lead wires.
6.
Install the rear d u ct assembly as described previously.
7.
C onnect th e b attery ground cable an d com pressor clutch
connector.
EXPANSION V A LV ES (C-63)
This system incorporates tw o expansion valves. These valves
do n o t use the external equalizer line.
Removal (Inner Valve)
1. D isconnect th e b attery ground cable and com pressor
clutch connector.
2.
Purge the system o f refrigerant.
3.
Rem ove the rear d u ct as outlined previously.
4.
D isconnect the cen ter ground wire and the blow er m otor
lead wires. Rem ove th e lower to u p p er case screws and
lower the low er case and blow er m o to r assemblies.
W A R N I N G :
Before
screws, support the case to prevent damage to the
case or m otor assemblies.
5.
D isconnect the valve sensing bulb from the core outlet
line.
6.
D isconnect the core inlet and outlet lines and remove the
valve assembly. Cap or tape the open connections at
once.
