(screwdriver, etc.) to move the pulley outboard
until proper belt tension is reached. If the belt is
being replaced it may be necessary to remove and
replace the th ro ttle cable during the belt replace­
ment. If so check th ro ttle cable adjustment upon
com pletion. It may also be necessary to remove the
crankshaft pulley to install a new compressor belt.

CONDENSER

Replacement (Fig. 31)
1.
Rem ove th e b attery ground cable and com press clutch
connector.
2.
Purge the system o f refrigerant.
3.
Rem ove the screws th a t retain the headlight m ouldings
and remove th e screws for the grille. Rem ove the m o u ld ­
ings then remove the grille.
4.
Rem ove 3 screws from rad iato r center brace an d remove
the brace.

Reinstall the idler as­
belt
tension
using
a
lever
5.
D isconnect the condenser in let and o u tlet lines and cap
or tape th e open connections at once.
6.
D isconnect the receiver-dehydrator o u tle t line an d cap or
tape the open connections at once.
7.
Rem ove the (4) condenser bracket b olts and remove the
condenser from th e vehicle.
8.
Rem ove the condenser m ounting brackets from the
condenser.
9.
T o install, reverse Steps 1-8 above. A dd 1 fluid ounce of
clean refrigeration oil to a new condenser.
C A U T IO N :
Use new " O " rings, coated w ith clean
refrigeration
o il, when connecting all refrigerant
lines.
10.
Evacuate, charge and check the system .
RECEIVER-DEHYD RATO R
Replacement (Fig. 31)
1.
D isconnect the b attery ground cable, and the com pressor
clutch connector.
2.
Purge the system o f refrigerant.
3.
Remove the screws th a t retain the headlight mouldings
and the screws for th e grille. Remove th e m ouldings and
remove th e grille.
4.
D isconnect the receiver-dehydrator in let and o u tlet lines
and cap or tape the connections at once.
5.
R e m o v e
th e
receiver-dehydrator
screws.
6.
Remove the receiver-dehydrator from th e vehicle.
7.
I f a new receiver-dehydrator is being installed, add 1 fluid
ounce o f clean refrigeration oil to the new u n it.
8.
C onnect th e inlet and outlet lines using new " 0 " rings
coated w ith clean refrigeration oil.
C A U T IO N :
Do not uncap the new unit until you
are ready to fasten the inlet and o u tlet lines to the
unit.
9.
Install receiver-dehydrator by reversing Steps 1-6 above.
10.
Evacuate, charge and check th e system .
