ance exists on the vehicle, fuel pump tests described
in Section 6M should be performed.

SERVICE COOLING SYSTEM

l . Inspect cooling system for leaks, w eak hoses, loose hose
clamps and correct coolant level, and service as required.
N O T E :
A

this section, may be perform ed to detect internal or
external leaks w ithin the cooling system.

CHECK AND ADJUST ACCELERATOR LINKAGE

1.
D isconnect accelerator rod at carburetor th ro ttle lever.
2.
H old carb ureto r th ro ttle lever in wide open position.
3.
Pull accelerator rod to wide open position. (O n vehicles
equipped w ith Powerglide, pull through detent.)
4.
A djust accelerator rod to freely enter hold in carburetor
th ro ttle lever.
N O T E :
Accelerator linkage is outlined in detail in
Section 6M .
5.
C onnect accelerator ro d at th ro ttle lever.
SERVICE CRANKCASE V E N T IL A T IO N
(FIGS. 11 and 12)
All engines have a " Closed Positive" ventilation system
utilizing m anifold vacuum to draw fumes and contam inating
vapors in to the com bustion cham ber where they are burned.
Since it affects every part o f the engine, crankcase ventilation
is an im p o rtn at function and should be understood and
serviced properly.
