This section covers the removal and installation o f engine
assemblies, th e rem oval, installation and adjustm ent o f some
sub-assemblies and replacem ent o f some com ponents. For
service to all com ponents and sub-assemblies (after removal)
and removal o f some sub-assemblies, refer to Section
Chassis Overhaul Manual.
COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND ADJUSTMENT
ENGINE ASSEMBLY
Removal
1.
Remove engine cover and position it o ut o f way.
2.
Disconnect b attery ground cable at engine block and at
battery.
3.
Drain cooling system and disconnect heater hoses at
engine; disconnect radiator hoses at radiator.
4.
Disconnect autom atic transm ission cooler lines at radi­
ator.

Remove fan guard and radiator.
Disconnect engine wiring harness at dash panel junction
block.
. D isconnect D elcotron wires at rear o f D elcotron.
D isconnect TCS system electrical leads at carburetor
m ounted CEC valve and at tem p erature sw itch-rem ove
harness from clips and position it to one side.
Disconnect Evaporation C ontrol System lines a t rocker
arm cover and at c a rb u re to r-p o sitio n lines to one side.
