TEM PERATURE IN D IC A TO R LIG HT
The tem peratu re indicator circuit consists o f tw o rem otely
located units, indicator light and sending unit. T he lamp u n it is
a single red light w hich indicates an overheated engine.
TEM PERATURE GAUGE REPLACEMENT
(Fig. 11)
1. Rem ove in stru m ent cluster assembly as previously de­
scribed in this section.
2. Remove term inal n uts retaining lam inated circuit to
gauge unit.
3. Rem ove attaching screws, cover and gauge assembly from
cluster housing.
4. Remove term inal attaching nuts and gauge unit from
cover plate.
5. T o install, reverse removal procedure and check operation
o f gauge.
O IL PRESSURE SENDER U N IT
REPLACEMENT
1. D isconnect wiring harness connector from sender u n it
term inal (located in engine block above starter on L
engines and at left fro n t o f distributor on V
N O T E :
Remove the engine access cover to reach
the V 8 oil pressure sending switch.
2. Rem ove sender u n it using Tool J-21757, replace w ith
new unit and check operatio n o f indicator light or gauge.
3. R einstall engine access cover on V
O IL PRESSURE IN DICATO R LIG HT
If the light does n o t com e on when the ignition sw itch is
tu rn ed on, or if the light com es on and remains on after the
engine is started, one or m ore o f the following conditions is
indicated:
Low oil pressure
D efective wiring or sender u n it
D efective bulb
High engine tem perature
O IL PRESSURE GAUGE REPLACEMENT

1. Rem ove in strum en t cluster as previously described in this
section.

2. Rem ove bulb holders, grounding screws and lift lami­
nated circuit aside as necessary.
3. Rem ove instrum ent cluster cover to separate oil pressure
gauge from cluster.
4. Rem ove pipe fitting and retaining n u t from gauge being
replaced then remove gauge from cluster. DO NOT KINK
PIPE.
5. Install replacem ent oil pressure gauge in the reverse steps
1 -4, then observe operation o f gauge.
If the ignition is turned on, th e engine has n ot been started
1. Indicator bulb is burned o u t; replace the bulb.
2. O pen circuit or loose connection in the indicator light
circuit.
If the indicator light stays on after th e engine is started;

First check (2) in-line fuses at fro n t of
engine com partm ent.

. To install, reverse steps 1-5 and check op eration o f
