Installation (Inner Valve)
1.
Remove caps or tape from system connections and install
the new valve assembly using new " O " rings coated w ith
clean refrigeration oil.
2.
Install the sensing bulb , m aking sure th a t the bulb makes
good contact w ith the core o u tlet line.
3.
Install the low er case and blow er m o tor assemblies.
4.
Install the rear duct as ou tlined previously.
5.
C onnect the b attery ground cable and com pressor clutch
connector.
6.
Evacuate, charge and check the system .
Removal (Outer Valve)
1.
D isconnect the b a tte ry ground cable and com pressor
clu tch connector.
2.
Purge the system o f refrigerant.
3.
Rem ove the rear du ct as outlined previously.
4.
D isconnect the blow er m oto r ground straps and leads.
5.
D isconnect th e refrigerant lines at the rear o f the blower-
evaporator assembly.
6.
Rem ove th e blow er-evaporator to ro o f panel, attach ­
m ents and low er the blow er-evaporator assembly. R e­
move the assembly and place on a w ork ben ch upside
dow n.
7.
Rem ove th e low er to upper case screws and remove the
low er case assembly. Remove the u pper shroud from the
u p p er case and th en remove the upper case from the
core.
8.
Rem ove the expansion valve bulb from the evaporator
o u tle t line. Rem ove th e expansion valve inlet an d o u tlet
lines and cap or tape the open conhections at once.
Rem ove th e valve.
Installation (Outer Valve)
1.
Rem ove the caps or tape from the refrigerant co n ­
nections and install th e new valve using new " O" rings
coated w ith clean refrigeration oil.
2.
Install the upper case to th e core m aking sure the sealing
strips are positioned correctly. Install the upper shroud
on th e upper case.
3.
Install the low er case an d blow er assemblies.
4.
Install the blow er-evaporator to the ro o f panel.
5.
C onnect the refrigerant lines at the rear o f the blower-
evaporator unit using new " 0 " rings coated w ith clean
refrigeration oil.
6.
C onnect the blow er lead wires and ground straps.
7.
Install the rear duct as described previously.
8.
C onnect the b attery ground cable and the com pressor
clu tch connector.
9.
Evacuate, charge and check the system.
EVAPORATOR CORE C-63 (Fig. 42)
Removal
1.
D isconnect the b attery ground cable and com pressor
clu tch connector.
2.
Purge the system o f refrigerant.
3.
Rem ove th e rear du ct as outlined previously.

4.
D isconnect the blow er m o to r leads an d ground wire.
5.
D isconnect the refrigerant lines at the rear o f the blower-
evaporator assembly.
6.
Remove the blow er-evaporator to ro o f panel attach m en ts
and lower the blow er-evaporator assembly. Rem ove the
assembly an d place it on a w ork bench upside dow n.
7.
Remove the lower to upper case screws and remove the
lower case assembly. Remove the upper shroud and
upper case from the evaporator core.
8.
Remove the expansion valve inlet and ou tlet lines and
cap or tape the open connections at once. Remove the
expansion valve capillary bulbs from the evaporator
o u tlet line and remove the valves.
9.
Remove the plastic pins holding the screen to the core
and remove the screen.
Installation
1.
Install the wire screen to th e fro n t o f the new core and
insert the plastic pins.
2.
Install the expansion valve inlet and o u tlet lines using
new " 0 " rings coated w ith clean refrigeration oil. Install
the sensing bulbs to th e evaporator o u tle t line. Make sure
the bulbs have good co n tact w ith the line.
N O T E :
Add
3 oz. clean refrigeration oil when
installing a new core.
3.
Install the u p p er case and upper shroud to the core.
4.
Install the low er core case and blow er assemblies.
5.
Install the blow er-evaporator to the ro o f panel.
6.
C onnect the refrigerant lines to th e blow er-evaporator
u n it using new " 0 " rings co ated w ith clean refrigeration
oil.
7.
C onnect the blow er lead wires and ground straps.
8.
Install the rear duct as o utlined previously.
9.
C onnect the b attery ground cable and the com pressor
clutch connector.
10.
Evacuate, charge and check the system.
