9. Install dust shield and rotor.
V-8 Engines—(Fig. 8i)
1. a. Fill housing lubricating cavity w ith proper com ­
p ound , press in new plastic seal and install felt
washer.
b. Replace the vacuum advance unit.
c. Install the breaker plate in housing and th e spring
retainer on the upper bushing.
N O T E : Spring should seat on the " fla t" machined
on one side o f the mainshaft.
2. L ubricate an d slide w eight cam over m ainshaft and install
w eights and spring (Fig. 9i).

3. Insert m ainshaft in to housing, indexing it w ith drive gear
and washers.
4. Slide d istrib u to r drive gear shims and gear over shaft and
install new pin. Tap new pin through gear and m ainshaft.
Check shaft for free ro tatio n .
5. Install contact p o in t set and condenser to breaker plate.
C onnect leads as show n in Figure 2i.

. Install ro to r to cam assembly, indexing round and square
pilot holes.
Installation—Engine Not Disturbed (All Models)
1. T urn the ro to r about 1/8 tu rn in a clockwise direction
past th e m ark previously placed on the distributor
housing to locate ro to r and push th e d istributor down
into position in the block.
