T o install, a ttac h th e new cable to the 4 ' piece o f wire.
T ape the m ounting tab and attach ed wire. Carefully pull
th e new cable in to position.
8. Reverse Steps 1-5.
N O T E :
If cable adjustment is required, see below.
Adjustment
1.
D isconnect th e b attery ground cable.
2.
A ir and Defroster Door Cables—
fro n t latches. Rem ove th e tw o cover to floorpan screws
and remove the engine cover.
3.
Pry o ff the appropriate cable eyelet clip and disconnect
the cable from the door.
4.
Rem ove th e cable retaining screw.
5.
While holding the cable w ith pliers, rotate th e m ounting
tab on th e cable to lengthen or shorten the cable,
w hichever is required.
N O T E :
Do
not pinch the cable too tigh tly or
damage to the cable could result.
6.
Install the cable, reversing Steps 1-4.
BLOWER SWITCH
Replacement (Fig. 8)
1.
D isconnect the b a tte ry ground cable.
2.
D isconnect the blow er sw itch wiring harness con n ecto r at
th e switch.
3.
Remove the tw o sw itch attaching screws and remove the
sw itch assembly.

A n auxiliary heater is available as a dealer installed
accessory to provide additional heating capacity fo r th e rear­
m ost extrem ities o f th e Chevy V an and Sportvan models.
This unit operates entirely independent o f the standard
heater and is regulated thro u g h its own controls at the
instru m en t panel.
This system consists o f a separate core and fan unit
m o u n ted either under th e second seat or at th e left side o f the
vehicle (Fig. 11). H eater hoses extend from th e u n it to the
fro n t o f the vehicle where th ey are connected to th e standard
h eater hoses w ith " tees" . An " o n -o ff' w ater valve is installed
in the h eater core inlet line in th e engine co m partm ent. This
valve m ust be operated m a n u a lly -" o n " for cold w eather,

4. T o install a new sw itch, reverse Steps 1-3 above.
N O T E :
Make certain the switch arm bushing is in
place and that the arm and bushing engage the
slotted opening in the A IR -F A N
stalling the switch.
RESISTOR
Repacement (Fig. 10)
1. D isconnect the wiring harness at the resistor connector.
2.
Remove the tw o resistor to dash m ounting screws and
remove th e resistor.
3. T o install a new resistor, reverse Steps 1 and 2 above.

coolant flow to th e auxiliary core during warm w eather and
elim inate the radiant h eat th a t w ould result.
CONTROLS
Two m ethods o f control are em ployed w ith this system :
Water Valve (Fig. 12)
When h eat is desired, th e w ater valve m ust be in the " o n "
position (valve located in the engine co m partm ent in the core
inlet line). During the sum m er m o n th s, this valve should be
placed in the " o f f ' position.
