4. Pry o ff th e tem perature door cable eyelet clip and then
remove the bow den cable attaching screw.
5. Rem ove the distributor du ct to heater case screws and
pull th e duct rearw ard o u t o f the heater case retainer.
6. Rem ove th e four h eater case to dash screws and then
remove th e heater case an d core as an assembly. T ilt the
case assembly rearw ard at the to p while lifting up until
the core tubes clear the dash openings.
7. Rem ove th e core retaining strap screws and remove the
core.
8. To install a new core, reverse Steps 1-7 above.
HEATER HOSES
H eater hoses are ro u ted from the w ater p um p and th erm o ­
stat housing to th e core inlet and o u tle t pipes as show n in
Figure 5. Hoses are attach ed at each end w ith screw type
clamps.
Replacement
The h eater core can be easily dam aged in the area o f the
core tube attach m en t seams w henever undue force is exerted
on them . Whenever the heater core hoses do n o t readily come
o ff the tubes, the hoses should be cut ju st forw ard o f the core
tubes. The p o rtio n o f the hose rem aining on the core tube
should th en be split longitudinally. Once the hoses have been
split, they can be rem oved from the tubes w ith o u t damage to
the core.
CENTER DISTRIBUTO R DUCT
Replacement (Fig. 6.)
1. D isconnect the b attery ground cable.
2. Unsnap th e engine cover fro n t latches. Remove the tw o
cover to floorpan screws an d remove the cover.
3. Remove th e heater core case and core as an assembly (see
" H eater Core Case and C o re ..R eplacem ent" ).
4. D isconnect th e right h and heater o u tlet hose and the tw o
defroster hoses from the distributor duct.
5. D isconnect th e air and defroster door cables by prying
o ff th e eyelet clips and removing the cable attaching
screws.
